Draft Tips & Tricks: Change the library storage account or library type

Once a library is created, you cannot change its storage account or its type directly.

You need to create a new library with another storage account or type and export your document from your source library to your new library.

Change the storage account of Team Folder or Secured Folder library

- Create a copy of the library with the correct storage account. The copied library contains the configuration of the source library.

- Apply permissions settings on the new library: Team Folder security center - User PermissionsSecured Folder security center - User Permissions

- Export your documents from the old library to the new one.


Change the type of library - Team Folder VS Secured Folder library

- Create a new library from scratch with the correct type.

- Apply permissions settings on the new library: Team Folder security center - User PermissionsSecured Folder security center - User Permissions

- Configure manually the new library if you are using advanced features, such as custom properties or workflows.

Export your documents from the old library to the new one. 

Note: When exporting documents from a Team Folder to a Secured Folder (and vice versa), the properties and workflow states will not be migrated if the configuration of the target library is not exactly the same as the configuration of the source library.


Changes related to Document Management libraries

The following changes related to Document Management libraries are often complex and should be monitored by the AODocs team. Contact AODocs support to guide you through these procedures:

  • Change the storage account of a Document Management library
  • Change the type of library from a Team/Secured Folder library to a Document Management library (or vice versa)
